The Project

Solutions to tackle children and adolescent’s obesity through the Mediterranean way of life

Although the traditional Mediterranean lifestyle is considered one of the healthiest dietary patterns, the Med region is paradoxically one of the areas where overweight and obesity are most prevalent in the world. Chronic diseases related with lifestyle are raising in Northern, Southern and Eastern Mediterranean areas. This is mainly due to the decline in adherence to the Mediterranean Diet (MD) in the Med societies. DELICIOUS aims to reverse this decline by bringing its consumption back to Mediterranean societies starting from the demographic group who needs it the most: our children and adolescents. DELICIOUS will identify and understand the socio-economic and cultural factors hindering Mediterranean Diet adherence, and will provide innovative solutions for dietary shifts towards sustainable Mediterranean Diet.
